Why Organic and Fair Trade

The Conventional Cotton industry has an enormous impact on the world and its people. Conventional Cotton accounts for 3% of the worlds agricultural crop, yet uses a staggering 25% of agricultural chemicals. In the process of manufacture, the typical piece of cotton clothing has undergone chemical treatment amounting to a third of its weight worth of chemicals, from pesticides, bleaches, chemical fertilizers and a host of other poisonous compounds. Insects develop resistances, fertilizers run into stream and oceans, and thousands of workers die yearly due to chemical poisoning, typically in developing countries where regulations are harder to control, and life is cheap.

The total cost of an item of clothing needs to be addressed, including the negation of all of these destructive outcomes that are typical of our current economic mood.

We all decide what we will do to improve this world every time we decide for or against a product. Its a big consideration, but as continue step by step, we begin to heal many decades of abuse, and we begin to hold companies responsible for the decisions that they are making on behalf of the entire world.
